Mexico is one of the world’s most diverse countries with everything from a bustling nightlife to gorgeous beaches, to a vibrant cultural scene. If you’re unsure of where to visit, you’re not alone. The country is a smorgasbord of destinations. If you’re looking for sun and sand, sweet tequila, and sombreros, explore Mexico’s Playa del Carmen, one of the best spots to get your Mexico on.
Known by the locals as simply “Playa“, this beach town is fast becoming the place to be in the Yucatán. Eclectically lively clubs, laid-back cafés, places to explore, timeshares, and multiple all-inclusive hotel resorts are all around this city. The beach town has a significant expatriate community that’s been on the rise since the early 1900s and has greatly influenced the local ambience, making this one of Mexico’s most unique destinations. Nowhere else in the country will you find such a vast selection of foods and cultures existing so harmoniously side-by-side.
Explore Mexico’s Playa del Carmen Any Time of the Year.
The best time of year to stay in Playa del Carmen is the months of April and May. There aren’t as many tourists and temperatures during the day remain constant between 70 to 80°F and drop insignificantly overnight. October through March brings drier but warmer weather. The summer months are warmer still, as are humidity levels. Typical hurricane season is from June through September, so be sure to review weather forecasts before you book.
Playa del Carmen’s most popular spot is 5th Avenue, or Quinta Avenida. No vehicles are allowed on the street, and it’s lined by chic clubs, restaurants, and inexpensive souvenirs.
If you want to spend your days relaxing and swimming and your nights drinking and dancing, Playa del Carmen is the spot. If, on the other hand, you’d like to experience more of the old-world culture of Mexico, try Zona Arqueológica or Murales Urbanos just on the edge of Playa. You’ll find Playa del Carmen is the best of both worlds.
