Few cities have such a high concentration of excellent breweries as Asheville, NC, a small city tucked away in the Blue Ridge Mountains. It isn’t the easiest place to reach (expect a long drive along some steep roads!), but it’s worth the effort once you take a seat at one of these favorite breweries in Asheville, NC.
Burial Beer Co.
Burial Beer Co. doesn’t make a bad beer. A seasoned beer drinker will enjoy anything on the menu. Just point, sip, and relish in the flavor. Some highlights that you can find in cans and bottles include:
- Until There Is No Longer IPA
- There Is Only Perception Where Fact Once Laid IPA
- Surf Wax IPA
- Shadowclock Pilsner
Yes, they get a bit dramatic with their names.
Sit outside at the South Slope location, where you can view the on-site garden, play games, listen to heavy metal, and rub elbows with locals.
Hi-Wire Brewing
Hi-Wire Brewing has spread to other cities recently, but its heart remains in Asheville, where it started pouring unique craft brews. The original South Slope location has 24 taps serving flagship, seasonal, and specialty beers. Look for small batch, taproom exclusives and buy cans to enjoy when you get home.
Hi-Wire also has non-alcoholic beers and other beverages, so your designated driver gets to enjoy a pint without catching a buzz.
The Funkatorium
The Funkatorium is an offshoot of Wicked Weed beer–another spot you should try when visiting Asheville. However, The Funkatorium has a dedicated list of sour and wild-fermented beers unlike anything you will find in the city. Many of these beers take up to a month to ferment, so you’ll pay a couple dollars more. It’s worth the experience.
These are our favorite breweries in Asheville, NC. However, Asheville has more breweries than you would expect a small city to support. It stays vibrant by constantly evolving. The next time you’re there, pop into a random spot to see what they have on tap.
